More Secret Lake

It's really pretty here in Utah!

This is one of the best pictures I've ever taken. I have to admit that I shot this on a whim when I stopped to catch my breath and suck down half a liter of water. Posted by Picasa

Out with my Trekking Socks

Here we are at Secret Lake, also sometimes spelled Cecret Lake: Obviously the 'ole Trekking Socks need some finer boots. My old ones are in sad need of shoe goo. Or, you know, honerable retirement. But tennis shoes worked just fine. Some ankle support would have been welcome going up the switchbacks, but Cary made it in Converse, so...No whining!

The hike was awesome--It's up Little Cottonwood Canyon in Albion Basin. You actually hike under some Alta chairlifts. It's amazing. And the wildflowers were out! Posted by Picasa

SO HOT!

Lordy, it's hot here. Over the past two days I've become obsessed with the Weather Underground website--there's a graph you can get which shows bar graphs of the temperature every three hours. Yes, I'm probably spending way too much time on this. But the bar graphs rock.

Knittin' for my Man

I'm back! I didn't get much knitting done on my trip, just a few rows of the Cambridge Jacket: I'm happy with it so far. So happy that I got carried away and had to rip back like ten rows to start decreasing for the armholes. It's a nice meditative project.

Mostly I'm meditating on the joy of clothing my man for winter.

Am considering blocking each piece as it comes off the needles, a la Eliza. Am also considering hiring someone to set the zipper in for me, and maybe sew the thing up as well. I've got a lot of love and energy invested in the project and I don't want to $#*% it up with my crappy finishing work. I want him to be proud to wear it. Posted by Picasa
